An elegant, complex deeply layered sparkling wine showing the elegance of coastal terroir, with aromas of fresh cream, fresh berries, and brioche.
Chez Gran Cru - 3 Pack
It is half and half Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It is treated as if it were a small artisanal – growers champagne. The fruit comes from George and Nikki Bowen’s Fort Ross-Seaview Appellation vineyard, located in the coastal hills above Fort Ross State Historic Park, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The vineyard sits approximately 1,400 feet above sea level and was originally planted in the 1980’s. Carved out of the larger Sonoma Coast AVA in 2011, the 27,500-acre Fort Ross-Seaview AVA was given special consideration for its soaring elevation and remote, rugged location.
The grapes are whole cluster pressed sent to various containers, concrete eggs, Australian oak foudres, and barrels. There are no addition to the wine, no enzymes, no SO2. The wine rests on lees untouched for over a year, when it went to triage. A bit of sugar and yeast were added to start secondary fermentation. The wine sat in triage 3-1/2 years, was disgorged in January 2023.
