Our cabernet is a proprietary blend of two majestic vineyards in St. Helena and Howell Mountain which contribute their unique qualities to the structure, texture,
and balance of the wine. The St. Helena red, rocky soils, ancient and volcanic in nature, add layers, balance, and texture to the wine. The fruit is typically harvested in small lots over multiple passes. The Howell Mountain vineyard sits high above the fog line, where temperatures are cool but moderate, allowing
extra time to ripen. Lean, quick-draining soils force the vines to struggle, yielding small grapes that possess deep, concentrated flavor with a signature minerality and earthy undertone. These intense tannins and structure perfect the magic with the St. Helena passion.

Fruit from Howell Mountain and St. Helena proves ultra-worthy for this new release. Now in its third vintage, the 2018 is a showstopper and with only 900 cases produced, will have to be allocated. Aged in 100% new French oak for three years, and a year in barrel, the aromas of coffee and blackberry are dense and indicative of what’s to come. The entrance of grainy tannins soon evolves and smooths out, but the grip remains intact. A taste of penny royale is the minerality you taste on the tongue, promptly followed by a sheath of blackberry preserves, balsamic, and dried violets. Sweet earth spreads out across the palate, bolstered by dried fruits. If it couldn’t get better, the finish of chocolate fudge and toasted coconut cedar will seal the deal.
