Our Willamette Valley Pinot Noirs has a brighter acidity and a lower pH than our Pinot Noir from Northern California but greater ripeness than Burgundy. The wine is rich and dark with naturally lower acid and soft, round tannins: qualities expressive of that Laurelwood silt loam in the Patton Valley area of the Tualatin Hills from which it’s sourced.
2022 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir - 6 Pack
This terroir as well as the whole-cluster fermentation give the wine a slightly earthy, herbal [character] with minerality and dense structure. When comparing it to As One Cru’s Carneros Pinot Noir—or we like to call it, a “Cab lover’s Pinot”—I see them almost as fraternal twins, both single vineyards aged in French oak but with different personalities. You will taste the Family resemblances that are derived from our wine making style of late harvest, bold yet elegant wines. This wine has also rested 2 years in our second use French Oak Cabernet barrels.
The winery is on a 30-acre estate producing mostly Pinot Noir but also Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Gamay, and Syrah. It is located in the new Tualatin Hills AVA, which is on the northern-most end of the Willamette Valley. The soil is almost entirely Laurelwood silt loam, and is the defining characteristic of the Tualatin area. Patton Valley is on the western side of the AVA in the rainshadow of the Coastal Mountains.
