The fruit for this wine is grown across two iconic Napa Valley regions.

Howell Mountain’s cooler mountain temperatures create dramatic diurnal swings throughout the growing season, allowing grapes to develop concentration and complexity while preserving freshness. The volcanic soils here are naturally low in fertility, producing smaller berries with intense flavor.

On the valley floor, the Oakville Bench sits along the western edge of Napa Valley at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains. This area benefits from a warm Mediterranean climate, balanced by morning fog rolling in from San Pablo Bay and cool afternoon breezes. These conditions help maintain acidity and structure while allowing the fruit to ripen fully.

Together, these two sites create a wine that balances mountain power with valley-floor finesse.

The 2021 Cabernet Franc is composed of 90% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Merlot, aged for 28 months in new French oak.

Intense tannins flow with notes of graphite, dried violets, licorice, mint, and espresso, followed by lingering flavors of charred oak.

The wine is bold and rich, layered with black fruit, dark chocolate, and ironstone minerality. The tannins are structured yet polished, creating a velvety texture and a long, dark-fruited finish.

Critics have praised the wine for its balance of power and elegance, scoring 96 points from Somm Journal and 94 points from Decanter.
